  Program & Project Development

Managed the predevelopment phase of an affordable housing project for homeless young adults in Baltimore City.  Transformed initial concept into a feasible development plan. Researched models. Facilitated a task force to incorporate community input. Wrote program plan.  Developed partnerships and resources.

Developed program and wrote grant that secured $1 million for a transitional living program for homeless youth.

Managed the creation of a consortium to develop and manage housing for people with disabilities.  Promoted the consortium’s mission to government officials, researched development opportunities and regulations, developed written materials, conducted foundation research, secured other technical assistance.

Provided technical assistance for development of a social enterprise center that will focus on helping disadvantaged young adults launch a career. Assisted client to expand on original concept, researched best practices, advised on organizational structure, and wrote a project proposal and work plan. Coached client on building partnerships and securing resources.

 

  Capacity Building

Secured award of $750,000 to support capacity building for the Baltimore Homeless Youth Initiative. Provided technical assistance and program development services that empowered the coalition to build a continuum of housing and services for homeless young people. 

Staff trainer and mentor for five Directors of Residential Services working in a new service coordination program in subsidized senior housing.  Created curriculum and individualized training programs. Led skills workshops and tutored staff.

Assisted a developer to implement a system for providing residential services at affordable housing developments.

Provided technical assistance and coaching regarding HUD service coordination to housing providers.

Guided a nonprofit through closing its existing programs and repositioning itself to develop into a new direction. Coached director through the implementation of the plan.

 

   Advocacy & Public Policy

Developed and supported a coalition of affordable housing providers around common issues arising from the Bailey Consent Decree, a legal order that requires that non-elderly disabled people be included in Baltimore’s housing projects that use certain public funding.

Supported the development of a public policy agenda for homeless youth. Developed and implemented plan to launch policy efforts by conducting outreach to stakeholders, facilitating forums, and synthesizing legal issues and community input into an achievable policy plan. Facilitated buy-in by stakeholders and organization members.  Provided coaching so that the client can implement the approved plan on their own.

 

   Strategic Planning & Program Evaluation

Conducted program evaluation for a senior housing project, including compiling demographic information, assessing current operations, interviewing stakeholders and soliciting resident input.  Led staff and owner through a process to analyze data, conduct research about best practices, and develop a strategic plan. Coached staff on implementation of the plan.

Provided technical assistance, research and written text for a comprehensive, community housing plan.

Fast tracked the strategic planning of a coalition of government, nonprofit organizations and businesses addressing the foreclosure crisis.  Conducted environmental scan that included over 25 interviews. Wrote a program evaluation. Worked with a committee to determine the strategies and goals. Facilitated a meeting of the whole membership to validate the plan and work on measurable objectives and actions.  Facilitated setting priorities and recommended how to measure results.

 

   Resource Development

Responsible for securing foundation and government grants for a large nonprofit workforce development provider.  Conducted environmental scan to determine types of funding available. Involved the nonprofit’s staff in setting grant priorities, determining grant request, and reviewing drafts. Researched government funding and foundation prospects. Wrote grant proposals.
